Lea Michele, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley and Kevin McHale accept Choice TV Show: Comedy award for 'Glee' onstage during the Teen Choice Awards 2013 at Gibson Amphitheatre on August 11, 2013 in Universal City, California.
"I want to dedicate this award to Cory. I promise that with your love, we're going to get through this together"
Lea Michele has remained largely quiet since the death of her "Glee" co-star and significant other, Cory Monteith, nearly a month ago. But at Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards, Michele emerged to accept the award for Choice TV Actress: Comedy.
The actress was flanked by her fellow "Glee" stars, who had just won as an ensemble for Choice TV Comedy."Not that I had any doubt before, but you guys are certainly the greatest fans in the world. I want to dedicate this award to Cory. I promise that with your love, we're going to get through this together."
Added fellow "Glee" star Amber Riley during the acceptance of the show's award for Choice TV Comedy: "We just want to say, although we lost someone that we really love, and that all of you guys love too, we are very fortunate to come back to a show where we feel the love of family, Cory was like a brother to us, like a dad."
Michele was making her first public appearance since Monteith's death. The actress and singer first tweeted July 29 about the death of her "Glee" co-star, with whom she was romantically involved.
Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13. An autopsy found that the actor had died of a mix of heroin and alcohol, though his death was ruled accidental.
